Mother Herb Elixir is a remedy whose name came from a nickname that a graduate of the apprenticeship has since referred to me by - she always calls me “Mother Herb”. For this reason, Motherwort is one of the primary ingredients. The word “Motherwort” literally means “Mother’s herb” as they are well-known to support women in the transition from labor into birth. Motherwort, also known as Leonurus cardiaca or the lion-hearted plant, is an ally of the heart, bringing calm and peace and also promoting confidence and resilience when needed. Accompanied by Nettle leaf, you can be sure that this elixir is one for nourishing the body through strengthening thyroid function and supplying us with essential nutrients and minerals. Nettle leaf, like Motherwort, has been said to also improve lactation, thus being ideal for mamas whose milk is low or even to add more nutritional content to the breastmilk. Nettle leaf, a diuretic, enhances the work of both the bladder and kidneys. Astragalus supports both of these allies by furthermore providing adaptogen qualities of stress-relief while reinforcing proper coping skills. Astragalus can also curb sugar cravings that are attributed to a lack of mothering or sweetness from a mother figure - in this light, they are ideal for preventing conditions such as diabetes.
