the story:
The voyage of The Hermit leads us to a unity of heart and mind - this is really the center of this work in “Illuminating the Sphinx”, part 3 of the Indigo Keys - with The Hermit’s lamp we see these ancient entities in all their majesty and remember our origins. Key 9 opens the doors of perception of wisdom as The Hermit is a graduated version of The Hierophant. With these medicines, our knowing (cognition) is supported. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Sage and Horsetail are both considered “surface-relieving herbs”, meaning they repel the invasion of pathogens and toxins through promoting sweating and peripheral circulation - though this is a quality of these plants that comes through more so when they are used in infusion or decoction form, they still contain a dispersing quality when they are used in tincture form. This makes Sage and Horsetail synergistic for expelling colds, flus, coughs, and other respiratory illnesses. Sage is specifically useful for relaxing the nervous system while healing ailments such as a sore throat, being deeply indicative of the initial grounding of The Hermit’s knowledge (crown and 3rd eye insights) into a fluid vocalization (wisdom channeled through clear speech). Sage’s medicinal compounds in conjunction with Chaga and Calendula give us antioxidant support, preventing the damage of free radicals and protecting the body from environmental toxins. All 3 of these medicinals serve to prevent attacks to cells tissues which can cause unnatural aging and conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Here we see that though The Hermit is a savant whose time and experience has afforded them certainty and inner security, there is still the necessity toward a proactive demeanor of physical preservation, so The Hermit, as associated with Virgo, is as spiritual as they are practical. Ginkgo comes through to further the thoroughness of this formula - they have long been called forth as ideal for brain health. For Key 9 ruminations, we have ensured to provide a medicine to enhance thinking and meditation processes, so this is essentially a ritual potion that can be used in ceremony and deep study, alike. If you enjoyed Eyebright Elixir, you will love Key 9 which can be used similarly.
